Coaching
Philosophy

We believe the vault is a metaphor for life — the run-up, the plant, the moment of commitment, the flight, and the landing. We're here to coach all of it.

01

Fundamentals First

We never skip steps. Every athlete — regardless of age or experience — begins with the foundations: grip, run-up mechanics, take-off, and body position. Technical mastery is built layer by layer, and we don't rush the process.

02

Safe Progression

Safety is non-negotiable. We use structured height progressions, introduce new skills only when athletes are physically and mentally ready, and maintain strict landing pit and equipment standards at every practice.

03

Long-Term Development

We're not optimizing for one season. We build athletes for four years of high school and beyond. That means developing physical literacy, mental resilience, and a love of the sport that outlasts any single performance.

04

Confidence Building

Fear is a normal part of pole vault. We acknowledge it, work with it, and help athletes develop genuine confidence through repetition, communication, and incremental success. Every cleared bar is proof that they can fly.

05

Mentorship

Coaching isn't just about technique. Our coaches are mentors — invested in athletes' growth as people, not just athletes. We celebrate academic success, support off-season development, and build relationships that last beyond graduation.

How We Train

We Train Athletes —
Not Just Pole Vaulters

Pole vault is one of the most technical and demanding events in all of track and field. To succeed, an athlete needs speed, strength, coordination, courage, and trust in the process. Our training reflects that.

Three Core Pillars

01

Speed

Everything in pole vault begins with the runway. We train athletes to sprint efficiently and powerfully so they can bring maximum energy into the takeoff.

02

Strength

We develop explosive strength through bodyweight training, plyometrics, medicine ball work, rope climbing, and mobility work designed specifically for track athletes.

03

Skill

Pole vault is a highly technical event. We break down each phase of the vault — approach, plant, takeoff, swing, extension, and turn — so athletes understand not just what to do, but why they are doing it.

More Than Technique

We emphasize mindset. Pole vault requires courage and belief. Our athletes learn how to approach challenges, trust their training, and compete with confidence.
